There are 3 absolute truths which guide all spiritual exploration.  I discussed the first one last week, you are a child of Spirit/Source/God and cannot be separated from Spirit/Source/God.  The second absolute truth is the most controversial.  Yes, you are without sin.

“Dude, that’s a pretty big statement.  Without sin??  Really?”

Yes, really.  You might want to sit down.  This is a long one.

I am a 62 year old white upper middle class male.  I have no formal training in theology or religion. My sins are so numerous that listing them would fill volumes.  I have physically, emotionally, intellectually, verbally or spiritually violated every aspect of humanity at some point in my 60 years on this earth.  I am a lawyer by training and I have been taught to judge God’s children in every facet of their lives.

I eat more than I need while others in my community starve.  I drink to ignore the pain and suffering that surrounds us all.  I spend money on items that I don’t need or even want while those around me go without.  I am self-righteous, pious and indignant that others would dare to judge me.  I am all of these things and more, much more.  I am human.

However, more than anything else, I am a Holy Child of Spirit/Source/God.  I know that nothing, absolutely nothing I do or anything that is done to me will ever change that simple fact.  I am a part of the Creator and the Creator is a part of me.  It matters not how I am judged, what I believe, what I say, how or to whom I pray or what rituals I perform.  I am, have always been and will always be of the Creator.

I am not special or different from you or anyone else.  You, too, are of the Creator.  You came from Source and in time will return to Source and nothing you do will ever alter this simple fact.

Ultimately, this means we are all one, existing in perfect non-duality.  We are not separate beings, each unique from the other.  We do not exist in absolute multiple forms with right and wrong choices where some of us will win and some of us will lose.  We are not individuals, we are One.  As such, sin cannot exist.  It is a creation of the human mind and ego.

It is only the illusion of duality, as created by our own minds that makes us believe that we are all individuals.  This illusion, of our own making, creates our sin and places us in bondage.  It creates walls of fear that places us at odds with each other.  Freedom from our bondage is available to us all, but only if we truly want freedom at the cost of all the illusions we hold dear.  Absolute freedom comes in knowing the Truth, not believing it is true, but knowing it to be the Truth.  The distinction is the same as believing in Source verses knowing Source exist.  The first is born of the limited human mind; Knowing comes from Source itself.

The choice is yours to experience all aspects of life, both positive and negative, the righteous and the sinful.  It is yours to experience all of these things in the way that best speaks to your sense of “self” as you continue your journey.  All paths ultimately lead to the same door, to the Truth of who we are, but there is a universe full of options and choices to reach that door.  As each of us tires of wandering through the wilderness, we will ultimately turn toward our Source and make our way Home.  We are all on the same path even if the detours we each take are varied.  Freedom from this world is found in enjoying our path, knowing it is not unique and in not judging others for taking a different path.

Freedom from this world of fear, guilt, oppression, struggle and sin is found in knowing the Truth.  Only then does one realize that there is nothing to fear, nothing to struggle with, and nothing to repent.  Only then does one experience true joy and peace.  This is the path to fully appreciating the divine perfection of life.

“Dude, it cannot be!”, you say.  “I did not create the crazies out there with weapons, disease, and hatred all bent on doing me harm.  My sins are only protecting myself from others.”

If this is so, then why is it that those crazy, fanatical groups that have been around since the beginning of recorded history have not turned on themselves and destroyed each other?  Why is it they only attack the other guy?  They seem to perceive themselves as safe and normal.  It is only those outsides of their own group that they attack.  Get it?  It is only those that are not “like minded” that are a perceived threat from which one must defend oneself.

Sound familiar?

The attack we all perceive is one born of perception only, not reality.  Change your perception and the threat evaporates as if it was never there.  Change your perception and you will see the threat for what it really is, illusion created by your own mind in an effort to prove to yourself that you are separate and distinct from others, that you live in a dual existence of haves and have not’s, all struggling to live in a world of self-created limits and sin.  Limits on food, safety, money, love, happiness, etc are all self-created.

Experiencing limits is something that many of us must go through in our evolution.  It is not wrong or right, it is simply experience.  Judging those involved in this self-imposed struggle is of no value and only increases the stress and strife making it feel all the more real.  Judging the “sin” makes it real and increases the experience of sin!

Abandoning this limited thought process, abandoning the limited perceptions of the mind is the natural progression for those of us that are ready to take the next step along our shared path of evolution.  You will know when you are ready to take the next step, not because of any intellectual pursuit, not because of anything you read or were taught, but because you will simply know. You will know with the knowledge that comes only from our Source.

There is no sin which will damn you to eternal anything if you do not choose correctly.  There is only the wonderful, perfect divinity of the evolution of life of which you are both the creator and the created.

Now we are doing yoga…
