Have you ever tripped over your own feet?  Just can’t seem to get out of your own way?  I know I have….

A few years ago, I needed to move a refrigerator from the middle of the kitchen into its cut-out area between the kitchen cabinets.  I tried pushing it into place from the front, but it would not budge.  I slid around to the back and pulled with everything I had.  Whatever was caught let go and the refrigerator shot into its spot.  I, of course, was pinned, back against the wall, cabinets on both sides of me and the dusty, nasty coils on the back of the refrigerator in my face.  Only my arms were free, wiggling on each side of the refrigerator like it had come to life.  Needless to say, I had failed to get out of my own way!

The spiritual journey is no different.  You get so caught up in your mind and the urgency of the situation, that you create an energetic block to progress.  Once that block is freed, often by unknown forces, it all comes rushing in, pinning you against the wall, arms flailing, like a turtle on its back.  Whoever said that Spirit doesn’t have a sense of humor has never had their nose crammed up against dusty refrigerator coils.

From a spiritual perspective, what has happened is that you have slipped into your first chakra, the base vibrational frequency that governs your bodily functions.  It is where your monkey mind resides, the reptile brain, the basic instincts of fight or flight.  By focusing intently only on the material issue in front of you, you have moved out of the higher vibrational frequencies and chakras of Love and communication with Spirit.  Think of a simple salamander or sparrow that moves from place to place reacting only to the perceived situation it is confronted with.  No attempt to understand the situation, just act and react.  That is all you are capable of in the 1st chakra.

However, if you remove yourself from the situation and allow balance to return to your being, your energy will once again flow through all your chakras and the answers magically seem to present themselves.  Einstein understood this and would walk away from troubling equations by engaging in menial tasks to allow energetic balance to return thereby opening up communication with his Higher Self.  We have all done this to some degree, walking away from a hopeless problem only to have the solution present itself sometime later.  This is nothing more than your energetic body, your Merkabah, rebooting itself, reestablishing its connection with Spirit.

There is nothing wrong with ignoring all of this.  But understand that living only in the monkey mind will create an imbalance in time, an energetic block.  Just remember that the real you, the you that is a part of your Higher Self, cannot be harmed in any way.  If the block gets bad enough, your energetic body will reset itself.  It may be an unexplained fever, or it may only be a refrigerator pinning you against the wall.  Either way, your Merkabah will reset itself and protect your connection with Spirit, All That Is.

Meditation, listening to that small quiet voice, contemplation, connecting to nature, prayer, yoga are all ways to restore balance within your chakras and strengthen your connection to your Higher Self.  If you don’t do it, your Higher Self will.  Just watch out for that flying refrigerator!!

Now we are doing yoga…
