The diamond.  It is multi-faceted and last forever.  Know anything else that fits this description?

Definition of Facet:  One side of something many-sided.

The facets of a diamond seem to go on forever.  As the light shines through a diamond, each facet reflects off another and another and another enhancing the depth and beauty of the entire gem.  Each and every facet is critical to the whole.  Without the reflection of just one facet, the entire diamond fails.  Every side is connected and dependent on the other.  Even if it was possible, it would be silly, if not insane to attempt to cover up some of the facets, block them out or ignore their existence.  To do so would change its makeup.  It would no longer be a diamond.

Just like the diamond, you too are multi-faceted.  The difference is that you create your facets through living.  Each and every experience creates a facet of your being, the more experiences, the more complex and beautiful you become.  And, just like the diamond, without the reflection of just one facet, your entire being would fail.  All your experiences build on each other, no one experience more important than the next.

Notice that I didn’t qualify the experiences that make up your multi-faceted Self?  I didn’t say each and every great experience, or even each and every good experience.  Nor did I qualify the experiences that count as only those that your mother would approve of.  Nope, your need every single experience, all of them.  The good, the bad and the ugly.

Not only must you count all your experiences, you can’t judge any of them either.  You cannot know which reflection from which experience is needed to create the next experience any more than you can pinpoint which facet of the diamond creates its brilliance.  This is the corner stone of modern psychology.  Identifying and acknowledging all those facets of experience that you want to forget.  Abuses, attacks, failures and fears.  Funny how science follows spiritual growth.  It would be delusional to try to cover up, forget or remove any experiences that don’t currently please you.  They cannot be removed and without them you would no longer be you!

Embrace every experience you have ever had.  The successes as well as the failures.  The hurts and injuries as well as the days you are on top of the world.  All of it.  We are here to live life to the fullest.  Seek out new and varied experiences.  Some may not be pleasant, but every experience adds to your brilliance and your beauty.

Love and accept every experience unconditionally and know that it is forever a part of you.  It is the brilliance of your experiences that will ultimately welcome you Home with unconditional Love.
