A friend reminded me recently that no matter how strong the storm winds blow or how dark the storm clouds become, the sun is always shining on the other side. Just ask any airplane pilot.
Its easy to forget this simple truth when you are in the middle of the storm wondering what will happen next. I find myself in the middle of the storm more often than not lately. When the darkness closes in, the sun seems to be out of reach, even if it is just behind the clouds. I expect a lot of us are feeling that way these days.
That said, the above analogy is a bad one. It captures the false concept of duality, not absolute truth. Darkness does not come from some third party and block your ability to see clearly. The Light of Creation is not some far off mystical power that shines upon you only if you are in the proper place. The truth is that the Light is in you and can never be dimmed or extinguished. It can never be covered by darkness. However, you can allow darkness to cloud your vision so that you can’t see the Light, but that is of your own doing.
Remember my article about a single candle in a dark stadium? See Candle In My Pocket. You are that candle. The candle destroyed the darkness. You have the power to destroy any darkness that may surround you. It cannot hide and has no power. This Truth is absolute and universal. Fear may cause you to forget, but that doesn’t make this Truth any less so.
The Light does not abandon you. You simply choose to look away from it! It cannot abandon you because that is what you are. It is up to you to dismiss the darkness for what it is; fear, anxiety, and worry. It is up to you to recognize and embrace your True Self. It is up to you to illuminate and remove the darkness in your life.
Remember the last time you were involved in a conflict that consumed your thoughts every waking moment? In time it resolved and it was like a weight was lifted and everything seemed brighter, lighter and just better. What changed was your view of the conflict. The conflict would resolve one way or another, but it was your perception of that darkness that changed. As soon as you realized it for what it was, you, through your Light, destroyed the effect it had on you. Your mood changed, your outlook changed, a touch of joy returned.
Even in your darkest days remember that you are the Light. It is the same Light that resides in each of us and it will destroy the darkness for each of us if we just remember who we are. Darkness is nothing more than self-created drama. It does not deserve to be a part of a being as majestic and beautiful as you.
The reality is that you are the sun in my friend’s analogy. Clouds of darkness cannot effect you in any way unless you allow it to happen. You have the power to chase the darkness away. Remember who you are. Call upon your inner Light to illuminate your way for that is your inheritance and birthright as a Holy Child of All That Is.
